These latest designs from Marc Jacobs present a collection that relies less on flair and more on colors and texture. To some, this looks plain and simple. But I really love what the designer has come up with.

I think these handbags are instant classics. However, these may look as though these designs have been done before, and way more affordable, which really doesn’t justify this collection’s current prices.

Anyway, my favorite from this set is this bag on top, the yellow checkered piece, which I think really fits spring perfectly.

I’m not too fond of the fringes but I do like that it isn’t way over the top.

I honestly think that the style of this handbag looks so similar to my 4year old niece’s handbag, which also has this big ribbon on it. It was part of a toy set and on a child, this style does look fun, sweet and playful.

Upon closer look, however, the Jenna Handbag from Mel Boteri, is so much more than just that. While the ribbon lends a certain “young” vibe to it, the handbag is made of golden lambskin leather, which makes it durable and long lasting. And it’s certainly not a little girl’s handbag.

The bow naturally stands out, as it is done in patent black leather and provides a striking contrast. I like the bag’s size, because to me, this is the exactly how big I’d want my bag to be. It’s enough to put everything I need, but it’s not oversized and bulky.

The size is perfect for daytime shopping or doing errands. But it’s texture and material also makes it an ideal bag even for the night. So, you can use this day and night. It’s versatile enough that it can match any type of wardrobe.

Inside, the Jenna handbag is lined with Mel Boteri’s signature turquoise blue suede material. Yes, all of Mel Boteri’s handbags look like this from the inside.

Mel Boteri is managed by Melanie Mueller and was originally set up as a custom-made shoe label. The handbag collection from this brand include classic but fashionable pieces. The brand was launched in 2009.

Fashionable, sophisticated and vintage-looking, this Book Bag from Proenza Schouler, looks to be another runway hit especially for those women who love to wear shoulder bags. Shoulder bags, I should say, is so trendy these days. And this handbag is perfect. It’s compartmentalized so that you can easily organize the contents inside.

As with many of PS’s design, this handbag comes with a flap and a neutral, almost brass like hardware, which also provides texture.

I love the choice of colors for this by the way — red, dark brown (or what looks like black) and orange. Everything to me looks vintage-inspired, making it really stylish.

There’s another version of this that looks sort of knitted and ethnic, which can be hard to pair with other elements in you wardrobe. But this beauty is fashionably sensible. Match this with a pair of distressed jeans and ankle boots with a loose top, and you’re good to go!
